Beijing 北京

北京市简称京，旧称Peking，是中华人民共和国首都、中央直辖市、中国国家中心城市，中国政治、文化、教育和国际交流中心，同时是中国经济金融的决策中心和管理中心。市中心位于北纬39度54分20秒，东经116度25分29秒；全市南北跨纬度1度37分，东西跨经度2度05分。北京市共辖14个市辖区、2个县，全市乡镇级区划数为317个，共有135个街道办事处和182个乡镇（2008年，北京市民政局）。北京市政府位于东城区正义路2号。 北京位于华北平原北端，东南与天津相连，其余为河北省所环绕。

Beijing, abbreviated as “Jing” and formerly known as Peking, is the capital of the People’s Republic of China, a municipality directly under the central government, a national central city, and the country’s political, cultural, educational, and international exchange center. It also serves as the decision-making and administrative hub for China’s economy and finance.
The city center is located at 39°54′20″N latitude and 116°25′29″E longitude. The entire municipality spans 1°37′ in latitude from north to south and 2°05′ in longitude from east to west.
Beijing administers a total of 14 urban districts and 2 counties, with 317 township-level divisions, including 135 subdistrict offices and 182 towns and townships (according to the Beijing Municipal Civil Affairs Bureau in 2008). The Beijing Municipal Government is located at No. 2 Zhengyi Road, Dongcheng District.
Geographically, Beijing lies at the northern end of the North China Plain, bordered to the southeast by Tianjin, and surrounded on all other sides by Hebei Province.
