新疆拥有中国六分之一的国土，乌鲁木齐是中国新疆维吾尔自治区的首府，是新疆政治、经济、文化的中心，中国西部对外开放的重要门户，是新欧亚大陆桥中国西段的桥头堡，地处亚洲大陆地理中心。行政区总面积1.2万平方公里，其中城市建成区235.9平方公里。全市总人口235万，其中城市人口就占90%以上。

乌鲁木齐市是亚欧大陆腹地。它以自然风光、民族风貌、旅游购物、风味佳肴，服务设施齐备而引以自豪。乌鲁木齐市东望博格达冰峰，南靠喀拉乌成山地，有银装素裹的冰晶雪原风光，海拔800-3500米，是云杉，冷杉原始森林的“海洋”，森林上下缘，是绿草如茵的草场：穿过城镇绿洲带，便进入沙漠的瀚海，是荒漠风光旅游的天然乐园现代化设备齐全的五星级宾馆、酒店，还有琳琅满目的民族手工艺品、名、优、特产，样样齐全。

每年5月至10月是乌鲁木齐旅游的黄金季节，因为这段时间花木争艳，瓜果溢香。

Xinjiang makes up one-sixth of China’s land, and Ürümqi is its capital. It’s the political, economic, and cultural center of Xinjiang and a key gateway for China’s trade with the West. Located at the heart of the Asian continent, the city covers 12,000 square kilometers and has about 2.35 million people, with most living in urban areas.

Ürümqi is known for its beautiful natural scenery, ethnic culture, shopping, and local food. Surrounded by snow-capped mountains, forests, grasslands, and deserts, it offers a mix of landscapes for tourists. The city also has modern hotels and a wide variety of local crafts and specialties.

The best time to visit is from May to October, when flowers bloom and fruits are in season.
