西安市位于东经107(40(―109(49(和北纬33(39(―34(45(之间,东西最长为204公里,南北最宽为116公里,总面积9983平方公里。西安地处陕西省关中平原偏南地区,北部为冲积平原,南部为剥蚀山地。大体地势是东南高,西北与西南低,呈一簸箕状。截止到1998年底,全市辖8个区,5个县,55个街道办事处,120个乡,56个镇,3154个行政村。
Xi’an is located between 107°40′–109°49′E and 33°39′–34°45′N. It stretches 204 km east to west and 116 km north to south, covering a total area of 9,983 square kilometers. Situated in the southern part of the Guanzhong Plain in Shaanxi Province, the city’s north consists of alluvial plains, while the south features eroded mountains. The terrain is generally high in the southeast and lower in the northwest and southwest, forming a basin-like shape. As of the end of 1998, Xi’an administered 8 districts, 5 counties, 55 subdistricts, 120 townships, 56 towns, and 3,154 administrative villages.
